Introduction
On-Axis App

Purpose
The On-Axis Application is designed for audio professionals in the concert and touring industry. The App allows drawing and measuring the 3D audience area with a new and faster method that is also universal and compatible with multiple commonly used loudspeaker simulation programs. The On-Axis does not replace traditional methods such as CAD drawings or other precise models. It is a new addition to your existing toolbox, made for on-site visits and early load-ins.
Speed Up
The On-Axis method significantly speeds up the measurement of the audience area, allowing you to focus on the most important thing, making the actual speaker design. The speed-to-quality ratio of the model improves, so the speaker parameters and splay angles are obtained faster.
Workflow
The On-Axis workflow begins by taking measurements of the audience area, which are then entered into the app. On-Axis exports a file that can be imported into the selected loudspeaker simulation software.
Note
See the file format compatibility chart for more information on supported software versions and features by format.
It is possible to pair the app with a compatible Bluetooth laser, but it is not mandatory in any way. Check the Bluetooth compatibility chart for supported devices (multiple models from Leica & Bosch).
Operating Mode
The application consists of three different operating modes (1: Venue / 2: Planes / 3: On-Axis Profiles).

Planes
The Planes mode can be used in the traditional way where the dimensions for each plane are entered manually. However, this mode has features that speed up the process, such as the posibility to automatically continue the plane from the previous one.

On-Axis Profiles
The purpose of the On-Axis Profile mode is to draw a uniform plane to the speaker’s axis, starting from the speaker’s rigging point and ending at the farthest point of the audience area. Several of these can be drawn, and the idea is to create a separate On-Axis Profile for each speaker group. The primary purpose is to produce as accurate model as possible of the profile of the venue along the axis of the speaker.
How to get started

Note
Remember that you have a very powerful and advanced tool in your hands that requires practice to operate. It’s also important to understand what it’s suitable for, as well as equally important to understand what it’s not suitable for.
Practice, test, read the manual and watch the instructional videos. For additional help contact: support@oksound.fi.
