Bluetooth Connection

Connection

After a successful connection, the status must be “connected” and the name of the device must appear in the selected field. Bluetooth connection has model and manufacturer-specific differences, see tips below.

Bosch Lasers

Turn on Bluetooth on your IOS device as well as on the laser.
Allow application to access Bluetooth (IOS Settings —> On-Axis —> Bluetooth).
In the App settings, turn on the “Search for device”. Bosch GLM models do not require pairing. The application should recognize the nearby device automatically.
After a successful connection, the status must be “connected” and the name of the device must appear in the selected field.

Connecting for the first time

When connecting a compatible Bosch laser for the very first time, sometimes it happens that the initial connection is incomplete. In such a case, use the ”search for device” button in the off position or restart the laser, usually this helps.

Receiving values via Bluetooth

By default, the Bosch laser always sends a distance reading, but to get the angle, the device must have the correct measurement function on. The correct function is “Indirect Height” (or “Indirect Length”) and it can be found by pressing the function selection button.
When you take measurements in indirect mode, the top two readings on the screen (actual distance & angle) are sent to the application. The bottom reading can be ignored.

Leica Lasers

Turn on Bluetooth on your IOS device as well as on the laser.
Allow application to access Bluetooth (IOS Settings —> On-Axis —> Bluetooth).
In the App settings, turn on the “Search for device”. The application should recognize the nearby device automatically. Some models require pairing to work, some don’t
After a successful connection, the status must be “connected” and the name of the device must appear in the selected field.
Models that require pairing may require unpairing at the system level before first connection with the app.

Connecting D510 (E7500)

No pairing needed. The digital level must be switched on for angle.
Note

The D510 does not support remote triggering.

Connecting X3 / X4 / X6

Pairing is needed. If there are problems, the device may require unpairing at the system level and then re-pairing via the On-Axis application.

Connecting D810 / S910

Pairing is needed. If there are problems, the device may require unpairing at the system level and then re-pairing via the On-Axis application.
In Bluetooth settings, the App Mode must be used. Encrypted connection should be used.
The digital level must be switched on for angle.
Note

In the S910 model, connection establishment is slower than in other models.

Bluetooth must be used for connection, Wi-Fi is not supported at the moment.

Connecting Rangemaster CRF Pro

No pairing needed.
Note

CRF Pro lets you choose the unit of measurement in meters or yards. If yards are used, the On-Axis application converts them to feets.

Receiving values via Bluetooth

Leica always sends the length, but to get the angle “Digital Level” must be on, the function is on when the angle value is displayed at the top right corner of the screen. Use only ”Single Distance” mode for measurements.
The correct function to use in Leica lasers is Distance, do not use other functions when working with the On-Axis App.
Note

In some models, digital level is activated by default.
